Scutellaria baicalensis is native to Asia and is widely used there in traditional Asian medicine. The Baikal skullcap is rich in flavonoids and the like. a. on Baikalin, has an antioxidant effect and is used for many ailments. Skullcap fights bacteria, viruses and fungi (Candida), also in the gastrointestinal area, which can manifest themselves through diarrhea and lowers fever. It fights infections with antibiotic-resistant bacteria, including the dangerous Staphylococcus aureus, which often causes an infection in a weakened body. The bioactive substances in skullcap also lower elevated sugar levels, lower blood pressure, gently calm, protect and regenerate the liver. They thin the blood and prevent platelets and blood clots from clumping together. Because it also lowers cholesterol, skullcap prevents arteriosclerosis. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, the herb also reduces allergies and skin infections that are manifested by the itching, rash, atopic eczema. Use: brew a flat teaspoon (2g) with 250ml boiling water or bring to the boil briefly. Brew and drink up to 3 times a day, depending on the symptoms. The roots can be ground up first and then brewed.
