Hericium
Hericium lat. Hericium erinaceus, also called hedgehog goatee, is a rare type of fungus that can be found as a wound parasite in Europe and Asia on older trees. The mushroom is edible and contains many amino acids that humans have to provide with food.
In traditional Chinese medicine, it is used for stomach and respiratory problems, nervous disorders, high cholesterol, cancer and a weakened immune system. Modern research, especially in Asia, confirms this commitment. Hericium is said to have an anti-inflammatory and calming effect on the gastric and intestinal mucous membranes and to help with gastric mucus irritation, gastritis, reflux, heartburn and overacidification. It is also said to fight Helicobacter Pylori bacteria in the stomach, which cause stomach pain and inflammation of the stomach lining. The doctor can determine the infection with Helicobacter pylori and it is therefore recommended to clarify this in case of persistent stomach pain.
Hericium can also have a positive effect on inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. The contained polysaccharides are also said to act against tumors in the gastrointestinal tract such as sarcoma 180, gastric cancer, colon cancer and esophageal cancer, so its use is recommended as a preventive measure.
The ingredients of the Hericium: Hericenon and Erinacin are said to stimulate the nerve growth factor (NGF) and to promote the regeneration of the nerves, which is important for any nerve damage (after stroke, diabetes, multiple sclerosis). Hericium is also said to improve memory and concentration in old age and is also beneficial for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. The mushroom should also have the ability to bind the heavy metals.
